Those in search of land in 2015 were chasing the water, with eight out of 10 suburbs in a national list of most popular land developments on the beautiful coast of Queensland. We are fortunate to have #2 and #3 in our own back yard on the Northern Gold Coast!
With more than 150 hectares of open parkland, Highlands boasts public space in bucket loads, as well as creeks and conservation corridors bursting with native flora and flora.
“The open spaces encourages people to get out of their homes and integrate with others in the community,” Stockland Project Director for Residential Communities David Allington told realestate.com.au in May.
Education and employment opportunities abound, with three schools, a childcare centre and a $16.7 million ‘global learning centre’ forming part of the project master-plan.
“We wanted to provide education and learning, health and wellbeing and open spaces. But providing jobs ensures Highlands is sustainable in its own right,” Allington says.
The most clicked-on land development on realestate.com.au in 2015 was Pacific Harbour, a coastal development. With over 30km of sandy beaches running onto to a golf course, Pacific Harbour is an island oasis coveted by keen boaters and golfers attracted to the lifestyle.
Annette Mengel, Sales and Marketing Director for QM Properties says Pacific Harbour has a unique position in the market, being essentially an island connected to the mainland by a bridge.
“About 80% percent of the island is protected as national park, state forest or marine park,” Mengel says.
“The wide canals of Pacific Harbour are one of the last canal developments to be approved in Queensland.”
Surrounded by such an abundance of natural resource, Pacific Harbour was developed on the principle of environmental sustainability.
“The canal precinct offers parks and walkways designed to include all native plants for street and park landscaping,” Mengel says.
“Likewise the golf course was one of the first links in Australia to be designed and maintained totally on environmental lines. The overall coastal theme is achieved by using vegetation and textures that reinterpret the natural environment.”
Pacific Harbour rounded out 2015 with more than $60 million of sales.
